Initial Launch

Our privately-held company was launched as Air North, one of the first commuter operations flying the de Havilland Twin Otter. The company eventually joined with Clinton Aero and Crown Airways to begin operations under Brockway, Inc.

CommutAir Officially Launches

CommutAir officially launches as a Part 135 operator in Plattsburgh, NY. Inaugural flights that summer in two Beech 1900s were suddenly going head to head with the largest regional airlines in the US.

2003

New Partnership

CommutAir changes code-share partners from US Airways to Continental Airlines, now United Airlines.

2006

Upgraded Fleet

In 2006 CommutAir upgraded to the Bombardier Dash-8 Q-200 (37 seats) with pressurized cabins, lavatories, overhead storage bins and flight attendants.

Relocation to Cleveland, OH

CommutAir begins phasing out the Beech 1900 for the Bombardier Dash-8 Q- 200. The company relocates its headquarters to Cleveland, OH to follow a strategic shift in flying with our code-share partner.

CommutAir operates the largest Dash-8 Q-200 fleet in the world, serving over 1.4 million passengers annually. With over 100 flights a day to more than 20 cities in the United States, CommutAir's tradition of providing safe, efficient, reliable and comfortable air transportation service continues.
